"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth."
Genesis 1:1
What a triumphant way to enter the scene. "In the beginning, God." The God who was, and is, and is to come. (Revelation 4:8) The one in whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. (James 1:17)
This is our God, who will not share His glory with another, (Isaiah 42:8) who is above all things, (Ephesians 4:6) and by whom all things consist. (Hebrews 2:10, Colossians 1:17) He spoke the entire world into existence; the infinite labyrinth of known and unknown marvels, from the tiniest quark to the largest stellar nebulae: they were conceived and brought forth by His eternal voice.
His presence alone was before time, and His power alone will remain after the "heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat" (2 Peter 3:12)
